Need a Website?
The headache and confusion of needing a website and not knowing where to turn can be a bit overwhelming. So let's make this simple:
Overview of what you need to start: *You will need to purchase your domain address: IE: buzzbeestees.com (I recommend using godaddy.com to program your)
*Pick a platform or webbuilder and purchase your hosting (I recommend WordPress.com or WIX.com)
For future growth purposes, I recommend not having them under the same umbrella.
Things you should know:
Cost- An active and live website should run you about $100-$180 a year
How long it takes to build a site - Rule of thumb, it takes a professional web designer 40 - 100 hours; it will take an amateur 120 – 200 hours to build the same site
Average cost to hire a professional is $65 - $125 an hour
Question guide to ask a web designer:
How long will it take you to design my site?
What is your process and what do you need from me?
Does my website come with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) programing?
How much will it cost to develop my website? Can we negotiate a package rate vs. a per hour rate? (You want to know exactly how much you are going to pay for this project)
Do they have graphic design experience? (You want to make sure they have a good eye for design)
Do they have a few examples of past work?
Things you should take into consideration before hiring a designer:
You want to see at least 2-3 samples. Every designer has a different eye and style. A good designer will be very versatile with their ability to match your design taste
Ask for a project cost vs. per hour cost
Have full ownership of your go daddy account and web hosting account, you want to be able to part from the designer at anytime. You will need all of your password and logs
Good luck to all of my smart entrepreneurs!
